How to Perfectly Place Under-Eye Gel Pads
Applying under-eye gel pads may seem simple for some, but for others, it can take a bit of finesse to get it just right. Here's how to master this essential step for a smooth and comfortable lash application:
Step-by-Step Guide:
-
Position the Gel Pad Correctly:
Place the gel pad just below the lash line, ensuring it covers all the lower lashes without touching the waterline. Watch for any gaps where lower lashes might pop through. -
Check for Comfort:
Ask your client if they feel any discomfort or if the pad is too close to their eye. Adjust the pad slightly if needed. -
Secure the Gel Pad:
Smooth down the pad with gentle pressure to keep it in place. Use tape on both the inner and outer corners to secure it further. This prevents the pad from sliding into the eyes or shifting down, which could risk extensions sticking to the lower lashes. -
Avoid Irritation:
Keep the pad away from the waterline, as placing it too close can cause redness or irritation lasting up to 1–2 days. Always ask your client if they’re comfortable, and make adjustments as needed. -
Ensure Eyes Stay Closed:
Encourage your client to keep their eyes fully closed throughout the session to avoid adhesive fumes causing redness or, worse, a chemical burn. If their eyes are fluttering or partially open, gently remind them to relax and keep still. -
Create a Relaxing Space:
A calm environment helps clients feel more at ease and reduces eye movement during the session. A tranquil atmosphere benefits both you and your client.
Why Proper Placement Matters
Correctly applied gel pads not only ensure a seamless lash application but also prevent irritation and enhance your client’s experience. By taking these steps, you’re creating a comfortable, safe, and professional environment that reflects the quality of your work.
